Why they couldn't have the gatehouse at entrance manned and just hand you a map and your mirror tag when entering without even leaving your vehicle is beyond me. Later I talked to others that had driven up and around the other dump station too and were puzzled by why we weren't handed maps upon signing in and shown where things were like all of the other parks we have ever visited. ![]() He had found it by chance after arriving. He said it was across from the playground on top of the hill. I pulled up next to our site and asked a neighbor where the dump station was. So we headed to our site, still no dump station. I asked why the sawhorses couldn't be moved down by the main road and sign covered until the area was open so that others didnt have the same issue. The dump station i was looking for was further on way to our electric campsite. After calling the office she told me the maps were free and in the lobby and that the area I went to was closed for another couple of weeks. After diving up in the middle of nowhere we came upon a dump station with sawhorses across the entrance saying closed. While on our way to campsite saw a sign saying dump station and pointing up the hill to our right. I asked about a dump station and was told it was on the hill while on our way to the campsite we had. After doing all the pre-trip online still had to pull into small parking lot at office to sign in. Poor behavior is now ruining camping for those of us that actually care about camping etiquette and those around us.Ĭamped there mid April this year, Very unorganized. We are seriously considering never camping at a State Park again if this is what the State Parks have come to. Everyone not part of this group was completely disgusted by the behavior but were too afraid to do anything for fear of retaliation. It's a shame that the NYS park system has become so lazy at policing these types of campers. They were loud and obnoxious last year but this year it was 100 times worse. Again, park police called and nothing done. They sent their children into the woods with hatchets and allowed them to chop down several small sapling trees and branches off live trees for their campfires. Last year at this same weekend this same group of people were also at the campground. Instead they were allowed to stay and then proceeded to terrorize the campground last night forcing a bunch of people, some first time campers, to leave early. When the camp police were finally called because of the firecrackers and smoke bombs being thrown into the bathrooms it took several hours for them to arrive and nothing was done about it. My 72 year old mother was almost pushed into a campfire because of these kids running through their campsite in the dark and did not see her. My husband and I have been to over 50 campgrounds in 9 different states and have never seen such behavior. The adults would get progressively louder as the day went on and by night time would literally shout, scream, yell, and honk their horns to loud music and sing at the top of their lungs. The kids were running through everyone's campsites with no regard to camping etiquette. These were even being thrown into the bathrooms while people were showering. Firecrackers and smoke bombs going off all day and night. Multiple children completely unsupervised as their parents sat around and drank from sun up to sun down. There was a large group of people there just reeking havoc on the entire campground and making the whole experience awful for the rest of us trying to enjoy ourselves. We left a night early because of the poor way the campground is being policed. ![]() Just returned home from 3 nights of camping here.
